How to interpret "Assignments > Work Distribution" view

Can someone please share a description of how to interpret and understand the various assignment views? For example, on the work distribution view how is one to interpret the colors and bars? Where do I find definition of the status icons? Is there a YouTube video explaining how to understand this? Thanks!

if you scroll down to figure 'Figure 34. Work Distribution' you'll find an explanation of the colours on the time phased gantt view.
